The Top 5 Questions to Ask When Choosing A Character Company.

August 25, 2020

ONE: Is the person I see in the photos on the website, the actual person who shows up to my event?
The answer to this should always be YES, otherwise, it's considered false advertising. The person you see on our website is always the person who will show up to your event. The only time it wouldn't be, is if that person becomes ill and we sometimes have someone fill in. You can view our Characters HERE

TWO: Do you have a business license?
Again, the answer to this question should always be YES! Always choose a company who is paying all appropriate taxes and operating legally. Your party may be marginally cheaper if a company is operating under the table, but when they are eventually caught, they could be shut down, leaving you without protection or a character for the day of your event. You can always look-up a businesses license online through your State's website. WA State's Business License Lookup

THREE: Does your company have insurance?
You want to feel confident and comfortable when booking a character company, especially when they are dealing with your guests in a personal environment. ALL companies should carry an insurance policy and you have the right to ask for proof of insurance from any company.

FOUR: Do you accept cash or credit card?
Many businesses accept cash or credit card, but a business should never accept a credit card over the phone. This is an illegal practice in our state (Washington) and you should never give a card number over the phone or through email. If running legally, the company you choose should have an invoicing system where you securely enter your card number yourself and it should always generate a receipt. This is not only for your protection, but for the business' protection as well.

FIVE: What is your cancellation policy?
Ask for the company's cancellation and rescheduling policies. If you have to cancel or reschedule, will you be charged? Will you get a deposit back? Ask if they have a back-up plan should your character become ill. A character no show on the day of your event, could ruin your entire plans.

Follow these quick five questions when choosing a character company for your event and you will not only feel protected, but you can rest easy the day of your event, having confidence in the company you hired.
